As the Reuters agency reports Romania adopted a new computer system to tackle Internet pornography, which officials fear may rise after the country joined the European Union this year.

They say growing labour migration and easier customs controls will likely encourage the exploitation of children in the southeastern European country, which the United Nations already considers a top source of human trafficking.

On the 25^th of October twenty-three Council of Europe member states signed the Convention on the Protection of Children against Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Abuse, which represents a major step in the prevention of sexual offences against children, the prosecution of perpetrators and the protection of victims.

On the 26^th of October the ministers of justice of the Council of Europe's 47 member states requested the organisation to start preparing “European guidelines for child-friendly justice”.

Eurochild's next Annual Conference will take place from 21 to 23 November 2007 in Malta. This year's title will be: “Preventing social exclusion of children and young people in Europe: Participation & early intervention”.

The conference is directed to a multidisciplinary audience from the fields of medicine, mental health, interviewing, child welfare, advocacy, law, law enforcement, education, family support, public policy and research.

Violence is a daily reality for millions of children around the world, affecting girls and boys of all ages, all social contexts, and all nationalities. In every part of their lives —their homes and families, schools, institutions, workplaces and communities — children may be beaten, sexually assaulted, tortured, and even killed. The perpetrators of this violence are often the very individuals who are responsible for protecting children – their parents, guardians, teachers, employers, the police and security forces.

The first stage of the campaign "Child: Witness with Special Needs" was carried out in Poland in the years 2004-2005. On February 22, 2004, during a ceremony organized by the Ministry of Justice and the Nobody's Children Foundation, 2004 was announced the Year of Child Victims of Crime. Moreover, several programs were inaugurated, aimed at protecting children from crime and supporting child victims of crime who participate in legal procedures.
