I-st International Conference KEEPING CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE SAFE ONLINE Warsaw, Poland 16-17 October 2007

On the 16-17 th of October at the Sheraton Hotel in Warsaw there took place an International Conference "Keeping Children and Young People Safe Online".
The conference was organised by the Polish and UK Internet safety nodes: the Nobody's Children Foundation, the Research and Academic Computer Network (NASK) and the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre (CEOP). These nodes work within the framework of the European Commission Safer Internet Plus Programme. The main partner of the event was the TP Group Foundation.
The conference was be held under the patronage of Viviane Reding, Member of the European
Commission, responsible for Information Society and Media.
The Warsaw conference brought together representatives from the education sector, NGOs, law enforcement, government and industry. It addressed a wide variety of issues relating to children and young people's safety online, such as identifying computer crimes against the youngest Internet users, grooming, cyberbullying, child safety and mobile phones, online gaming and Internet addiction. The aims of the conference were to raise awareness of the new challenges and opportunities in fighting Internet threats and to help share best practices across different sectors. Sessions will be led by recognised international experts in the field of child protection.
