International supervision in Latvia

The international supervision took place on December 15/16th 2010 with Brenda Molloy from Ireland (the programme "Community mothers"), who shared her experiences of engaging volunteers in supporting families with young babies in order to reduce the risk of child abuse in such families.

Report on the problem of child abuse

The report developed in 2010 by the Nobody's Children Foundation in the frame of the "Childhood without abuse" project compares the attitudes towards child abuse in 6 countries: Bulgaria, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Poland and Ukraine.

Trainings at the Boarding Schools in Latvia

On October 31st Center Against Abuse "Dardedze" finished the 3rd stage of a project "Big School of Life" which included the summer camp and the training at the 3 Boarding Schools of Latvia. The main goal was to engage youth of boarding schools in making their closest environment bullying free. The closing workshop for teachers of boarding schools was held in Riga at the end of October. This program reached 60 children from boarding schools and 34 teachers.

Training on the topic of child friendly interviewing in Latvia

On 20th- 24th of September 2010 Dardedze  held a training for police officers from Latvia on the topic  "Child friendly interviewing". The training was held by an expert from the United Kingdom- Nigel King, who also met with the headquarters of State police to share the UK best practices in the child friendly interviewing and to promote changes in the attitudes and approaches of Latvian police.
