Polish Charter of Rights of the Child-Victim/Witness

The Charter was prepared by the Nobody's Children Foundation in partnership with the Ministry of Justice and Coalition for Child-Friendly Interviewing.

At the beginning of 2009 the Nobody's Children Foundation started its initiative aimed at creating a document which in a complex manner would deal with the rights of children participating in criminal proceedings. The document was to be addressed to professionals who in their everyday work meet children-victims/witnesses of crime.


Sexual abuse in residential institutions

Sexual abuse suffered by children in residential institutions is still largely unrecognised problem in East European countries. With an aim to plan research and prevention initiatives organisations participating in the Childhood without Abuse Project prepared situational analyses concerning this issue. The reviews focus mainly on statistical data and research observations available, legal regulations and good practices identified in each country.

Child protection systems in Eastern Europe

One of the aims of the Childhood without Abuse Project was to strengthen child protection systems in the countries participating in the project - Bulgaria, Lithuania, Latvia, Macedonia, Moldova, Poland and Ukraine. As a step toward diagnosing the systems and changes that has been introduced so far, flow charts of child protection system in each country have been created by the organizations participating in the project.

Children in the Union - Rights and Empowerment (CURE)

CURE is a project run by the Crime Victim Compensation and Support Authority in Sweden together with its partners in nine member states of the EU - Belgium, Croatia, Romania, Finland, France, Italy, UK, Portugal, Slovakia. It is devoted to the problem of children as victims of all sorts of crimes in the criminal justice systems of the European Union.

CRC on prevention of the sale of children, child prostitution and child pornography in Poland

UN Committee on the Rights of the Child has issued Concluding Observations regarding the report on implementation of Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of the Child on the sale of children, child prostitution and child pornography submitted by the Polish government.

Standards of child-friendly interview room

A child interview room shall be run by an entity having the legal power to administer such a facility.

Such a facility shall have a comfortable room which ensures the feeling of privacy and meets children's needs, to make children feel physically and psychologically secure during the interview.


Perception of children’s rights, discrimination and children’s exposure to violence in Macedonia

The field research report on perception of children's rights, discrimination and children's exposure to violence has been issued in Macedonia on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

The research was conducted by the First Children's Embassy in the World - Megjashi among students from 5th to 8th grade in 41 primary schools in 7 towns in Macedonia and among high school students from 1st to 3rd year in 24 high schools in 6 towns in Macedonia, 2 234 students in total.


OECD: Doing Better for Children

As improving situation of children one of the priorities of OECD, the organization has issued a publication analyzing different aspects of child-well being in the world today. Issues referred to include extent and timing of governmental expenditure on that purpose, social and family policies that have impact on children, influence of persistent inequality and marginalization on children.

Yes to prevention of child abuse

Today the World Day for Prevention of Child Abuse is celebrated for 9th time by the coalition of child abuse prevention NGOs, launched by Women's World Summit Foundation.
In line with the celebrations yellow sticker campaign - Yes to prevention of child abuse - is going on. Yellow sticker placed on the door, computer or at any visible place signifies stand for prevention of child abuse, treating all children with respect and dignity and protecting them from abuse and potential offenders.

Convention on the Rights of the Child is 20 years old

On 20 November 2009 20th anniversary of the adoption Convention on the Rights of the Child by UN General Assembly will be celebrated worldwide.
The Convention on the Rights of the Child is the first legally binding international instrument that covers the full range of human rights of children - civil, cultural, economic, political and social rights. A strong belief that people under 18 need special care and stronger protection than adults lay at the heart of setting up the Convention.
