Child Trafficking

The Optional Protocol on the sale of children, child prostitution and child pornography was adopted by the UN General Assembly on 25 May 2000. The Optional Protocol on the sale of children, child prostitution and child pornography draws special attention to the criminalization of these serious violations of children's rights and emphasizes the importance of fostering increased public awareness and international cooperation in efforts to combat them.

The Protocol to Prevent, Suppress and Punish Trafficking in Persons, especially Women and Children, was adopted by General Assembly resolution 55/25. It entered into force on 25 December 2003. It is the first global legally binding instrument with an agreed definition on trafficking in persons.

11th of June has been announced the European Day of Preventing Trafficking in Human Beings. This is also the day of National Conference on Combating Trafficking in Human Beings, organized by Polish Ministry of the Interior. At the same time, informative campaign is going to be launched in Poland. The aim of this campaign is to raise social awareness about risks of human trafficking, especially for the purpose of forced labour.

The Separated Children in Europe Programme has been implemented since 1997. In the article main goals and objectives of the Programme has been described. Moreover, this paper examines major achievements of the Programme that have been accomplished so far e.g. development of Statement of Good Practice, development of Programme network, country assessments etc. The article is attached as a pdf file.
