The seminar will take place on 29th and 30th of November in Madrid. In light of the recent adoption of the 2011 EU Directive aimed at combating sexual abuse and exploitation of children as well as child pornography, this event is intended as a platform to debate and assess the new EU legislation and to promote the effective investigation and prosecution of offences in this area of law.
The aim of the new EU instrument is to respond effectively to the challenges of new technologies that have made child pornography much more widely available.

The IV International Conference "Safe Belarus for Children" under the general heading "Child Protection from Violence System: progress achieved and new approaches" takes place in Minsk, from the 11th to the 13th of December, 2012.
INGO Ponimanie warmly invites leading experts and professionals from the Region of Eastern Europe and Central Asia to share their ideas and provide information about the progress achieved in the work of Child Protection systems of the Region. Among the main issues that are going to be discussed there are Child Protection from Abuse System, including Reporting on Child Helplines and Hotlines, Child Friendly Investigation and Trial, Treatment of Abused Children, Missing and Exploited Children, Child Protection in Parental Divorce and Domestic Violence. Accepted participants will not have to pay the Registration Fee at the conference. Abstract submission is extended till November 15, 2012.

Acording to the report Marrying too young: end Child Marriage released yesterday (11th October) by the United Nations Regulation Funds (UNFPA), by 2030 the number of child brides marrying each year will have grown from 14.2 million in 2010 to 15.1 million, that is over 14 per cent if current trends continue. It was also stated that one in three girls in developing countries (excluding China) will be married before 18.
The report also finds that, despite laws to prevent its practice, child marriage has remained mostly constant in developing countries over the past decade.

Yesterday (9th October 2012), first time in Poland, leading company of Polish hotel market signed the Code of Conduct which is an instrument of self-regulation and corporate social responsibility providing increased protection to children from sexual exploitation in travel and tourism. It is regarded as one of the world's major tools for combating child sex tourism and comprises a set of six criteria which travel and tourism companies follow in order to provide protection to vulnerable children in tourism destinations. Signatory companies must implement the six criteria according to a set of minimum standards, a timeframe and reporting requirements.

The Nobody's Children Foundation published 39th issue of Abused Child Quarterly. Recent issue marks twenty years of the periodical - specialized publication with a main goal to broaden knowledge of professionals about different aspects of child abuse. Number 39 presents articles concerning different ways of treating children that constitute what is understood as child abuse, including physical and emotional violence, sexual abuse, commercial abuse, neglect and Munchausen syndrome by proxy. It is meant to serve as a compendium of knowledge, providing information on scale, conditions and consequences of main aspects of child abuse.

For the 6th time already, the International Conference "Keeping Children and Young People Safe Online" will be held on 20-21 September 2012 at Novotel Warszawa Airport in Warsaw.

The Conference is organized by the Polish (Nobody's Children Foundation and NASK) and German (klicksafe) Safer Internet Centers, established within the European Commission's Safer Internet Programme. The main partner of the conference is Orange Foundation.
