Czechs make possession of child pornography criminal offense

Czech President Vaclav Klaus on signed a law making possession of child pornography a criminal offense punishable by up to two years in prison, officials said.

The bill also raises the maximum jail sentence for producing and distributing child pornography from three to eight years.



Romania tackles child porn with software

As the Reuters agency reports Romania adopted a new computer system to tackle Internet pornography, which officials fear may rise after the country joined the European Union this year.

They say growing labour migration and easier customs controls will likely encourage the exploitation of children in the southeastern European country, which the United Nations already considers a top source of human trafficking.


Helpline in Poland

Helpline org.pl is a joint project of the Nobody’s Children Foundation and the TP Group Foundation (currently the Orange Foundation), that was launched in 2007 within the “Safer Internet” programme. Its mission is to help children and youth who face threats when using the Internet and mobile phones, and to introduce system changes to provide more effective protection for the youngest users of new technologies.
