Possession of child pornography to become criminal offense in the Czech Republic

Czech legislators on the 13 th of June voted to make possession of child pornography a criminal offense.
Of the 150 deputies present in the parliament's 200-seat lower chamber, 136 voted in favor of the amendment of the country's criminal code. 14 deputies abstained. If approved by the parliament's upper chamber, the Senate, and by the president, possession of child pornography will be punishable by up to 2 years in prison.
The amendment also raises the maximum sentence for production and distribution of child pornography from three to eight years in prison.
