MOVE Project

MOVE - Psychosocial Development of Children through Games and Sport is a project implemented by Terre des hommes in partnership with the UEFA.
General aim of the project is to improve the wellbeing of children and fight child exploitation and trafficking by reinforcing psychosocial and methodological competencies of the animators working with them. It is realized in Albania, Kosovo, Moldova and Romania and will last till June 2011.

The project plans to train community-based animators, sport teachers, primary school teachers and Terre des hommes staff. Apart from animators' trainings, there will be sport events organized in every country, involving parents and communities. Micro-initiatives will be supported for the rehabilitation of sport facilities in schools or local associations, as well as micro-grants for recreational equipment in order to improve the environment of the most disadvantaged communities.

Activities such as games and sport enable the children to reinforce their own personal and social capacities and develop skills and values like self-esteem, trust, tolerance, respect, cooperation, responsibility and discipline. On a more global level, they support reintegration of the children into their family, local community and school system.
More information about the methodology of the project is available in the "Laugh, Run and Move to Develop Together" manual by Terre des Hommes. You can download the manual from Terre des hommes website.
