Children Support Centre opened child-friendly interview room

Child interview room, opened on 22nd April in Vilnius, accomplishes the comprehensive system of support (psychological, social and legal) for children - victims of violence and abuse, offered by Children Support Centre.

Opening and presentation of the room attracted lots of attention from legal, social, children rights protection institutions and media services. Representatives from Social Security and Labour Ministry, Children Rights Ombudsman Office, Vilnius Municipality Children Rights Protection Department, Court, General Prosecutor's Office, and Police Department of the Ministry of Interior were present and expressed their willingness to cooperate in providing support for abused children.

Child interview room is arranged and equipped according to the international standards for interview rooms. A child waits in a calm room before the interview and is interviewed in a separate place (interview room). For the team of specialists there is another room, from which they can watch the interview (watching/meeting room). There is also possibility to make audio and video recordings of the interview. The interview room is equipped with cosy but formal furniture, suitable for children.
Children Support Centre team offers professional help in organizing and conducting interviews.

With the opening of the child interview room, Children Support Centre is planning to organize the team of specialists trained in conducting the interviews, and develop training/supervision program for legal system specialists working with children.

Child friendly interview room in Vilnius was established with the cooperation of UBS Optimus Foundation, The Body Shop company, Ministry of Social Security and Labour of Lithuania and OAK Foundation.
