See it, Hear it, Say it campaign launched in Lithuania

See it, Hear it, Say it campaign, aiming to raise public awareness of the problem of physical abuse of children, was launched in Lithuania in the end of November. The initiative is carried out by Children Support Center, partner organisation in the Childhood without Abuse Project.

Children's Rights Ombudsman Institution, Children's Rights Protection Office, and Ministry of Social Security and Labour are among institutions taking part in the campaign. Children's Rights Ombudsman offered the ombudsman's helpline to be used during the campaign.

The initiative included distribution of leaflets and posters in Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipeda, Panevezys and Siauliai. Leaflets were distributed among adults in public places, police officers, and other partner organisations of Children Suport Center. Moreover educational seminar for parents and a series of free psychological consultations for victims of violence were carried out. There is a variety of other activities planned, including TV programme about child abuse phenomena to be broadcasted in January. Activities are accompanied by a special website www.vaikystebesmurto.lt providing information about the campaign and the prevalence of physical abuse of children in Lithuania. Those concerned or witnessing a child being abused can also email isgirsk@pvc.lt or call a helpline number 8 800 01230.

The campaigning materials have been originally created on pro bono basis by the advertising agency DDB Warsaw for the Nobody's Children Foundation.
