The BASPCAN Congress in Belfast, 15-18th April 2012

The 8th BASPCAN Congress "Keeping Children Safe in an Uncertain World: Learning from Evidence and Practice" is taking place in Belfast in April 2012, and submissions of abstracts are now being invited. BASPCAN is a multi-disciplinary association for practitioners, policy makers, researchers and academics with an interest in children's welfare and protection from all forms of violence, abuse or neglect.

The Congress has a number of specific sub-themes, and we would encourage you to submit an abstract for consideration:

• Innovations and Interventions
• Neglect and Emotional Abuse
• Children and Young People Living with Family or Community Violence
• Sexual Abuse and Exploitation
• Supporting Staff and Developing the Response to Hard-to-Reach Groups
• Young People in Transition
• Other topics of interest to the intended audience

The sub-themes are not exclusive, and if you have thoughts about some aspect of your work that might be suitable for Congress then please submit an abstract before 12th August 2011. In particular we are keen to have a range of high quality symposia on issues related to children's welfare and their protection.
