Safe schools. Every girl’s right. – Amnesty International report

Schools are not just places to learn and realize potential - some are also places of fear and violence. Safe schools. Every girl's right. report has been issued in the frame of Safe Schools Campaign, run worldwide by Amnesty International.

The report refers to all types of violence: physical injuries, sexual abuse and exploitation, emotional and psychological damage, faced by girls who pursue their school education. As a consequence, not only do they suffer long-term harm to their mental and physical health, but they are often kept out of school, drop out or do not participate fully in school. Their human rights - rights to freedom from violence, to equality and to education - are violated.
The report calls for action and offers a set of concrete recommendations on how to tackle school related violence towards girls.
