International supervision in Ukraine

On 17th December 2008 Child Well-Being Fund organized supervision with international expert, Ausra Kuriene, director of Children Support Centre in Vilnius.

Participants represented Kiev Podil State Social Services, Kiev Svyatoshino State Social Services, Kiev Obolon State Social Services, Kiev Darnytsa Child Affairs Service, Child Well-Being Fund Ukraine and Charitable Fund "Social Service Vifaniya".

The supervision was devoted to analysis of child abuse prevention in Lithuania and possibilities of transferring Lithuanian experience to Ukraine. The participants from Ukraine showed big interest in the ways of work of the organizations involved in child protection in Lithuania. Particularly interesting was cooperative work of the structures involved in child abuse prevention in Lithuania and involvement of Children Support Center in different programs. Ausra Kuriene also described psychological aspects of work with young victims, legal and social obligations of the professionals used in this kind of work were also of particular importance. The participants stressed that such information showed a new approach to the work with children basing on the client-centered approach and in the best interests of the child.
