Local trainings in Bulgaria

In December 2008 Social Activities and Practices Institute organized two trainings for Bulgarian social workers, psychologists and pedagogues.

First training focused around the theme: "Intervisions groups in the context of interdisciplinary help for abused children" and provided participants with information on patterns of child maltreatment and their consequences as well as procedures and techniques used in intervision groups. The purpose was to prepare professionals working with cases of child abuse from six towns in Bulgaria to become facilitators of peers groups of practitioners discussing cases from their work.

The aim of the second meeting titled „Effective approaches and techniques in working with abused children" was to train professionals working in the field of protection and intervention of child abuse from theoretical and practical point of view and to help them to master effective methods of working with maltreated children. The participants had an opportunity not only to be informed on the topic, but also to discuss the ways of coordinating their efforts in practice.
