New stage of Child - witness with special needs campaign in Poland

On 3rd March 2010 the campaign was officially inaugurated by the Minister of Justice, Children's Rights Ombudsman and Nobody's Children Foundation's director.

Activities of this year's campaign will be conducted under the theme "I will be interviewed", putting emphasis on the child's subjectivity and its right to special protection in difficult situations occurring during of legal procedures.

The aim of the campaign will be mainly to enhance competences and sensibility of judges,

prosecutors, court experts, police officers, psychologists and pedagogues in the field of preparing children to the participating in interviews, as well as interviewing children. Equally important is establishing new child friendly interviewing rooms. Activities allowing to accomplish this aim will include trainings and distribution of publications for professionals, parents and children. The publications will be available in courts, prosecutor's offices, police stations and organizations and institutions providing legal and psychological assistance.

The activities o the campaign will be implemented on the local level all over Poland by the members of Coalition for Child Friendly Interviewing.

The campaign "Child - witness with special needs" has been conducted since 2004. This stage of the campaign will last till the end of the year.
