Despite the importance of reducing demand to combat trafficking in persons, there is a dearth of information about good practices in demand reduction, and few such programs have been evaluated. The Europe and Eurasia region has recorded an increase in incidences of trafficking into and within the region, demonstrating a demand for trafficked labour and services from both beyond and within the region. In spite of this, demand reduction efforts have been few and far between.

8th International Conference „Helping Children-Victims of Crime" is organized by Nobody's Children Foundation, the Ministry of Justice and the Department of Social Policy of Warsaw's City Hall. It is also one of the events accompanying Polish Presidency in the Council of the European Union. The conference will take place on 24th-25th October 2011 in Warsaw.

The report on Presentation and Launch of Child-Friendly Interviewing Rooms in Western NIS/ Eastern EU Neighboring Region (Belarus, Moldova, The Ukraine) has been published in June 2011 by the International Center La Strada (Moldova).

This Manual provides training guidelines incorporating the peer education method. It has been developed within the third phase of the regional Child Trafficking Response Programme, managed by Save the Children in Albania, and with the participation of volunteers from Partners Bulgaria Foundation Resource Centre in the town of Kjustendil. This Manual aims at complementing adolescent activities within a programme for prevention of some of the risks encountered by adolescents nowadays. Its objective is twofold - on one hand, this Manual offers relevant information on each of the themes, and on the other hand, it enables young people to develop skills for independent living in order to protect themselves in risk situations.

The U.S. State Department released the eleventh annual Trafficking in Persons (TIP) Report on June 27, 2011. Analyzing 184 governments' work in combating slavery, the Report is both the most comprehensive literature on the subject and an important strategic tool for US diplomatic efforts at increasing international efforts.

The court files research of interviewing child-victims and witnesses of crime in Poland was carried out by the Nobody's Children Foundation in 2010 under the project supported by the European Commission - Directorate General Justice, Freedom and Security. The examination covered the records of criminal cases that ended finally in 2008, in which there was at least one hearing of a minor (under 18 years of age).

United Nation Children's Fund report is about children in Eastern Europe and Central Asia who are deprived of parental care. Despite recent reforms, which have led to an increase in the number of children being placed in alternative families – for example with foster parents, guardians or adoptive parents – the majority of these children are still living in institutions.

The 8th BASPCAN Congress "Keeping Children Safe in an Uncertain World: Learning from Evidence and Practice" is taking place in Belfast in April 2012, and submissions of abstracts are now being invited. BASPCAN is a multi-disciplinary association for practitioners, policy makers, researchers and academics with an interest in children's welfare and protection from all forms of violence, abuse or neglect.
